Inclusive Play for Paediatric Power Chair Users
Optimising a child’s experience playing, whilst using their power chair, has been identified as an important way of engaging and motivating them whilst supporting social development. This project explores the issues surrounding shared play with able-bodied children and, as a group, we are developing a solution which would enable a user to participate in a chosen scenario of play. This real-world brief was provided by MERU, who design and provide assistive products including Bugzi (a paediatric power chair), and has provided invaluable experience in working with a client on a new product development project from initial research through to conceptualisation and producing proof-of-principle-prototypes.
Bootzi is an assistive accessory to enable and assist paediatric power chair users play football alongside their able-bodied peers.
